Breakfast in Geneva

Geneva is one of the rare European cities to carry its own vibe of relaxation and content. Sundays tend to be the day that we find time to pay most attention to the beauty of this city.

Where to have breakfast or more appropriately - a cozy feast with friends or family on a sunny terrace? Geneva.info has done a particularly though-out examination of the best spots for breakfast in Geneva.

Pain Quotidien

Pain Quotidien is the first on the list because it fits the description of a perfect breakfast spot with the right ambiance and the perfect familiar menu. Pain Quotidien is located in numerous locations in Geneva, making it practical for any resident, finding the closest PQ. The wooden round tables and perfect French atmosphere instantly attracts visitors not only for that delicious smell of freshly brewed cafe macchiato, but for the bowl of granola topped with berries and yoghurt that is spotted on the shelf beside the counter. The menu offers various breakfast possibilities from classical scrambled eggs to continental breakfast with jam and honey. Another important remark that must be made about this spot is that most of their ingredients and products are BIO and Organic, making it a healthy and a fresh choice.

Recommendations: continental breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee latte, and granola with berries.

Aux Merveilleux de Fred

If you are looking for a high-end and a somewhat posh spot to have your breakfast on a Sunday, then this is the spot for you. With its large glass windows, and a big burlesque crystal chandelier in the entrance of this patisserie, you have a variety of classical and delicious choices. From amazing crisp merengue gateaux prepared a la minute, to marvelous brioches, which come with sugar or raisins. The other most wonderful and unique thing about this spot is the terrace they offer with carefully arranged benches and chairs and artificial white flower arrangements. The large windows allow visitors to have a sneak peak into how the merveilleux is created.

Recommendations: sugar brioche, raisin brioche, the meringue, the merveilleux aux Fred hot chocolate.

Birdie

Whether you want to have a healthy breakfast starting your day with a glass of fresh juice or an all-inclusive breakfast with pancakes and a latte, this is the place to go to. The large windows make the place bright and inviting, and the friendly staff are just the final touch to a nice breakfast. They also serve one of the best avocado-toasts in town, topped with nuts and spices. Located in the center of Plainpalais, Birdie is easily found, while it’s timing is perfect for those who decide to sleep in and have a brunch instead.

Recommendations: cookies, avocado toasts, pancakes, cappuccino.

Boreal Café

An authentic coffee shop with a smell of freshly brewed coffee upon the entrance, with a large variety of choices. The cookies compliment the coffee perfectly, served in a creative manner. The baristas are very friendly and helpful in choosing the right drink for individual customers. With its relaxing atmosphere and large cozy couches, bringing a book is a must. Finally, the best part about Boreal Café, is that its located in different spots around town, so wherever you are you have no excuse not to try it.

Recommendations: Very berry muffin, Matcha Latte.

President Wilson

If you are looking for a more upscale and sophisticated atmosphere, the President Wilson hotel offers a grandiose brunch which reminds of a true medieval feast more than anything else. While it is great for a romantic vibe, families have a great opportunity to enjoy their time together with various entertainment possibilities for the children. Note, a babysitter service is offered to parents who want to enjoy some alone time. The food is exceptional and the staff is very welcoming.

Recommendations: Sea Bass fillet, Cheese Plate, cold starters.

While there are numerous places to choose from when craving a delicious breakfast, it is hard to find spots, which combine the good food, the right atmosphere and the correct service. Be sure to follow our advise and leave us your opinions and comments.

Bonn Appetite!
